Lab Work in Progress, Snippets and more
For the last few weeks, I have been developing a new iOS app, pictured here on an iPhone but this will be an iPad app first. I'm currently about 33% through development for this one, and mostly I'm refining the design.
Timestream is not just another Alarm clock app, but an app I've been meaning to build for some time for iOS devices. I don't want to get into too much detail here, lest I give too much a way, but most features can be summarized as follows:
- Minimalist dock style design with readability in mind. Two themes, one for night and one for day
- Local weather support with on-screen OpenGL representations of weather conditions
- Triggered action interface, by time or location. (I'll explain this at a later date)
- Criteria based news collection, also triggerable by time and location
- Social media integration with quick message interface
- White-noise/loop generator for a relaxing sleep
- Full alarm interface. Choose to wake with your favourite song, sound, radio station or playlist
- A variety of snooze functions. Opt for simple snooze, or force yourself to do some math!
- Night-time brightness profile. Screen dims based on the hour or to a custom set of specifications
- and much more.
Timestream will be released on iOS first, however I am working on an Android version concurrently as an exercise. The current state of fragmentation on Android makes supporting the app on the 1500+ devices on the Play Store beyond cost and scope at this time.
Now that the site and a large chunk of the year are complete, it's time to resume building WIP 289. I briefly began modeling an arm/grasper in 3Ds tonight and should have it rounded out by the weekend.
I'm also using this as a bit of an excuse to test my new Drupal based site ;)
